Indefinite article(A An)

Article A An का प्रयोग

किसी भी word के पहले A/An का प्रयोग करने से पहले यह जानना आवश्यक है कि उस word का फर्स्ट लेटर कौन सा है तथा फर्स्ट लेटर का फर्स्ट साउंड क्या है फर्स्ट लेटर, फर्स्ट साउंड को जाने बिना A/An प्रयोग करने में गलती होने की संभावना बढ़ जाती है।

Article A An के प्रयोग को हम निम्न बिंदुओ से समझने का प्रयास करते हैं।

An का प्रयोग वैसे singular countable noun के पहले किया जाता है जो Vowel से प्रारंभ हों Ex—

This is an apple.
You are an artist.
This is an orange.
She is an actress.

A का प्रयोग वैसे singular countable noun के पहले किया जाता है जो consonant sound (व्यंजन ध्वनि) से शुरू होता है Ex—

This is a cat.
That is a fox.
This is a bat.
You are a intelligent boy.
I am a magician.

कुछ word ऐसे होते हैं जिनका पहला अक्षर तो consonant होता है लेकिन उनके साथ An का प्रयोग किया जाता है। यह इसलिए किया जाता है क्योंकि उनका उच्चारण करते समय जो पहला अक्षर का साउंड होता है वह स्वर साउंड से शुरू होता है Ex—

An honest man.(ऑनेस्ट)
An M.A.(एम)
An M.A.L.(एम)
An N.C.C. boy. (एन)
An hour. (आवर)
An honour. (ऑनर)
An L.P. School. (एल)
An H.M.T. Watch.(एच)

कुछ word ऐसे होते हैं जो प्रारंभ तो vowel से होते हैं लेकिन उनके साथ A का प्रयोग किया जाता है क्योंकि उनका उच्चारण करते समय पाया जाता है कि फर्स्ट लेटर consonant से प्रारंभ हों रहा हैं। Ex—

A University.
A union.
A uniform
A unique dress
A one-eyed girl
A one-rupee note

The का प्रयोग

The का प्रयोग को हम निम्न बिंदू से समझने का प्रयास करेगें

The का प्रयोग पर्वत श्रेणियों के नाम के पहले होता है। न की पर्वत चोटियों के नाम के पहले Ex- The Himalayas, the Alps, Vindhyachal,The eastern ghats. जबकि पर्वत चोटिया निम्न हैं – Mount Everest, Nanda Devi, Annapurna, Mount abu. ,Mount Olympus
The का प्रयोग नदियों के नाम के पहले होता है। Ex— The Ganga, the Thames, the Nile, the Amazon, the Indus, the Kosi, the kaveri, the Krishna, the Huang ho.
The का प्रयोग सागरों महासागरों खाडी के नाम के पहले होता है। Ex— the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, the Antarctic Ocean. सागर के नाम , The Red sea, The dead sea, The Arabian sea, The Black sea. खाड़ी के नाम , The bay of Bengal, The bay of biscay, The gulf of Mexico,
The का प्रयोग द्वीपों के समूह के पहले होता है। Ex— the andamans, the West Indies, the Philippines, the east Indies.
The का प्रयोग नहरों हवाई जहाजों समुद्री जहाजों रेलगाड़ियों के नाम के पहले होता है। Ex-. The Panama canal, The suez canal, The K.P. canal. The Victoria, the Vikrant. The meghdoot.
The का प्रयोग nationality expressing word के पहले होता हैं। Ex– The Asians, The italians, The Japanese, The French, The Pakistanis, The Europeans, The Indians.
The का प्रयोग धार्मिक ग्रंथों के नाम के पहले होता है। लेकिन धार्मिक ग्रंथों के नाम के पहले लेखक के नाम का प्रयोग होने पर the का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता। Ex— The Gita, The Mahabharat, The Ramayan, The Bible, The Quran.
The का प्रयोग दिशाओं के नाम के पहले भी किया जाता है। Ex The east, The west
धार्मिक समुदायों के नाम पहले भी the का प्रयोग किया जाता है Ex The Muslims, The Hindus, The Christians.
The का प्रयोग दुनिया की अनूठी वस्तुओं के नाम के पहले भी होता है। Ex the sun ,the moon, the earth ,the sky, the sea.
The का प्रयोग government branches or armed forces के नाम के पहले होता हैं।Ex – the judiciary, The Air force
The का प्रयोग ऐतिहासिक घटनाओं/इमारत/वंश/जाति/ काल /के नाम के पहले भी किया जाता है Ex— The Taj Mahal, the battle of Panipat, The white House.
The का प्रयोग राजनीतिक दलों के नाम के पहले भी किया जाता है Ex— the Congress party, the Janata dal, the Samajwadi party, the Bhartiya Janata party, the democratic party.
The का प्रयोग वाद्य यंत्रों (म्यूजिकल इंस्ट्रूमेंट) के नाम के पहले भी होता है। Ex the tabla, the harmonium, the piano, the guitar. लेकिन उस अवस्था में नहीं किया जाता है जब म्यूजिकल इंस्ट्रूमेंट का प्रयोग काउंटेबल नाउन के रूप में हो।

A An के प्रयोग के कुछ खास नियम

A/An का प्रयोग (प्रत्येक) या (प्रति/ की दर से) के अर्थ में होता है।Ex

Sohan comes to my house once a week.(सोहन मेरे घर प्रत्येक सप्ताह में एक बार आता है)
Mr Suresh earns Rs 10,000/ a month.(सुरेश प्रतिमाह 10000 Rs कमाता है)

किसी Proper Noun का प्रयोग Common Noun की तरह हो तो Proper Noun के पहले A/An का प्रयोग होता है।

He is a Kalidas. (वह कालिदास जैसा विद्वान है)
You are Tendulkar. (तुम तेंदुलकर जैसा क्रिकेटर हो)

A/An का प्रयोग singular countable noun के पहले class तथा जाति का बोध कराने के लिए होता हैं।

A cow is a domestic animal. (Cow = all cow)

किसी भी singular countable noun के A/An का प्रयोग होता हैं।

I am a teacher.
She is a doctor.

Plural noun को singular बनाने के लिए भी A का प्रयोग किया जाता हैं।

Five days journey.(plural)
A five day journey.(singular)

A An का प्रयोग कब नही किया जाता

A/An का प्रयोग proper noun के पहले नहीं होता है।

We live in a Uttar Pradesh.(×)

A/An का प्रयोग uncountable noun के पहले नहीं होता है।

लेकिन हम लिख सकते है कि- A glass of water.
