Past Continuous Tense की पहचान|Past Continuous Tense rules in Hindi

इस tense के द्वारा भूतकाल में कार्य का जारी रहना पाया जाता है लेकिन काम के जारी रहने का समय नहीं दिया होता है ऐसे वाक्यों की क्रियाओं के अंत में रहा था रही थी रहे थे इत्यादि शब्द आते हैं।

Note (1)He, she, it, I and singular subject के साथ‌ Was का प्रयोग किया जाता है। (He, she, it, I and singular subject +  Was)

(2) You, We, They, and Plural subject के साथ‌ Were का प्रयोग किया जाता है (You, We, They, and Plural subject + Were) 

Postive sentences

Structure:-

Subject + Was/Were + Verb⁴( V + ing ) + Object.

Example:-

मैं रोटी खा रहा था।	I was eating bread.
मैं कार्यालय जा रहा था।	I was going to office.
तुम बाजार जा रहे थे।	You were going to market.
हम लोग क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।	We were playing cricket.
वह गाना गा रही थी।	She was singing a song
तुम हंस रहे थे।	you were laughing.
तुम विज्ञान पढ़ रहे थे।	you were reading science.
सीता समाचार पत्र पढ़ रही थी।	Sita was reading newspaper.
वह स्कूल जा रहा था।	He was going to school.
सोनू और मोनू बात कर रहे थे।	Sonu and Monu were talking.

1. विद्यार्थी कमरे में शोर मचा रहे थे।
2. एक दिन कुछ लड़के जंगल में खेल रहे थे।
3. वह एक तालाब में तैर रहा था।
4. वह अपना काम कर रही थी।
5. मैं गहरी नींद में सो रहा था।
6. अध्यापक महोदय हमें हिंदी पढ़ा रहे थे।
7. तुम पुस्तकालय में समाचार पत्र पढ़ रहे थे।
8. यह लड़की बूढ़े व्यक्ति पर हंस रही थी।
9. हम पार्क में अपने मित्रों के साथ मटरगश्ती कर (loiter) रहे थे।
10. वायुयान इंजन में यांत्रिक खराबी के कारण धीरे-धीरे उतर रहा था।
11. सूर्य आकाश में तेजी से चमक रहा था।
12. हमारे मास्टर साहब कल अलीगढ़ जा रहे थे।

Negative Sentences

Structure:-

Subject + Was/Were + Not + Verb⁴( V + ing ) + Object.

(Was not =Wasn’t), (Were not = Weren’t)

Example:-

शुभम झूठ नहीं बोल रहा था।	Shubham was not telling a lie.
मेरा नौकर गायों को पानी नहीं पिला रहा था।	My servant was not drenching the cows.
तुम सभी पतंग नहीं उड़ा रहे थे।	You were not flying the kite.
मेरे गांव के लोग नहीं झगड़ रहे थे।	The people of my village were not quarrelling.
वे लोग कुछ नहीं कर रहे थे।	They were not doing anything./ They were doing nothing.
चिड़िया आकाश में एक झुंड में नहीं उड़ रही थी।	The bird were not flying in the sky in a group.
वह कक्षा में शोर नहीं मचा रहा था।	He was not making a noise in the class.
मैं गोरखपुर नहीं जा रहा था।	I was not going to Gorakhpur. I wasn’t going to Gorakhpur.
हम सब कल क्रिकेट नहीं खेल रहे थें।	We were not playing cricket yesterday.
तुम जोरों से नहीं चिल्ला रहे थें।	You were not crying loudly. You weren’t crying loudly.

1. वह स्त्री झगड़ा नहीं कर रही थी।
2. वह लड़के दूध नहीं पी रहे थे।
3. डॉक्टर मरीज को देखने नहीं जा रहा था।
4. वह आलसी लड़की बर्तन नहीं धो रही थी।
5. अंशु चोट के कारण स्कूल नहीं जा रही थी।
6. मुकेश सामान खरीदने गाजियाबाद नहीं जा रहा था।
7. धन की कमी के कारण महेश नया स्कूटर नहीं खरीद रहा था।
8. मैं गाना नहीं गा रहा था।
9. हम लोग गरीबों को नहीं तंग कर रहे थे।
10. तुम लोग कुछ नहीं कर रहे थे।

Interrogative sentences

Type 1

Structure:- Was/Were + Subject + Verb⁴( V + ing ) + Object? Was/Were + Subject + not+ Verb⁴( V + ing ) + Object?

Example:-

क्या मैं तुम्हें तंग कर रहा था?	Were you vexing you?
क्या वे लोग गरीबों को खिला रहे थे?	Were they feeding of poor?
क्या राष्ट्रपति विदेश जा रहे थे?	Was the president going abroad?
क्या मूसलाधार वर्षा हो रही थी?	Was it raining heavily?
क्या लड़कियां गीत गा रही थी?	Were Girls singing a song?
क्या गाय घास नहीं खा रही थी?	Was cow not eating grass?
क्या बच्चे शोरगुल नहीं कर रहे थे?	Were the children not making a noise?
क्या सलमान अली उर्दू नहीं पढ़ रहा था?	Was Salman Ali not reading Urdu?
क्या वे लोग परीक्षा नहीं दे रहे थे?	Were they not appearing at the examination?
क्या आपकी मां उसकी प्रतीक्षा नहीं कर रही थी?	Was your mother not waiting for him?

Type 2

Structure:-

Q.W + Was/Were + Subject + Verb⁴( V + ing ) + Object?

Q.W + Was/Were + Subject + not+ Verb⁴( V + ing ) + Object?

Example:-

तुम्हारी मां उसकी प्रतीक्षा क्यों कर रही थी?	Why was your mother wating for him?
तुम्हारा भाई क्या पढ़ रहा था?	What was your brother reading?
वह कितना दूध पी रहा था?	How much milks were he drinking?
तुम कितना रुपए दे रहा था?	How many rupees were you giving?
हम सब कौन सी किताबे पढ़ रहे थे?	Which books were we reading?
तुम कल बाजार क्यों नहीं जा रहे थे?	Why were you not going to market yesterday?
वह कल अपने घर क्या नहीं कर रहा था?	What was he not doing at home yesterday?
उस समय तुम कौन सी पुस्तक नहीं पढ़ रहे थे?	Which book were you not reading at that time?
तुम किसकी पुस्तक के बेच रहे थे?	Whose books were you selling?
तुम कल कहां जा रहे थे?	Where were you going yesterday?
